The MSU Library seeks an editor to review the final versions of approximately 300 oral history transcripts representing about 150 hours of recordings.
The editor will do the final editorial review on all transcripts to ensure compliance with the MSU Library’s standard for audio and video transcripts (see attached). Some existing transcripts are good and require little work; others require more editing in order to be coherent and correct.
The MSU Library uses Trint for transcription, which produces a reasonably good first draft of the transcripts. Prior to the contractor’s work, transcripts will be reviewed by a librarian with extensive subject knowledge to ensure that place names, fish species, and organization and personal names are correct before the contractor receives them. The editor will be given access to the Trint software as a part of this project.
This project can be completed entirely remotely; no physical presence is required. Weekly check-ins with the Head of Archives and Special Collections by video are required to confirm progress and quality levels.
The work should be complete by March 31, 2025.
