Maija Anderson   Director of Curatorial Services, Oregon Health & Science University Library

Maija Anderson is Director of Curatorial Services at OHSU Library, where she oversees the library’s special collections, archives, and digital asset management programs. She was previously an archivist at University of Chicago. She holds an M.A. in Art History from University of Chicago, and an M.A. in Library and Information Science from University of Missouri.

Debbie Bahn   Electronic Records Archivist, Washington State Archives

Debbie Bahn is the Electronic Records Archivist for Washington State Archives. She works on a multi-disciplinary team that preserves and provides access to state and local agencies’ archival electronic records. As an adjunct faculty member at Eastern Washington University, she teaches Digital Archives and supervises graduate student interns in professional development.


Cara Ball 
Records Analyst, Records Management Services at the University of Washington

Cara Ball is a Records Analyst for Records Management Services at the University of Washington. She spends her days empowering and advocating for the UW community to effectively manage their records. Connecting people with information is her passion. Cara holds a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington’s iSchool and a BA in Accounting from Seattle University.

Education Manager, Architectural Heritage Center

Val Ballestrem has served as the Education Manager for the Architectural Heritage Center in Portland since 2008. He holds an MA in History from Portland State University and a Post –Masters Certificate in Library & Information Science from San Jose State University.


Diana Banning  
City Archivist, City of Portland Archives and Records Management Division

Diana Banning manages the City of Portland Archives and Records Management Division and has served as the City Archivist since 1997. Prior to her time with the City, she was the County Archivist for King County, Washington. She has a Master of Library Science degree from the University of Washington and is certified through the Academy of Certified Archivists.


Kevin Bemel  

Rabbi Kevin Bemel recently completed a MLIS at San Jose State. He holds a Master of Religious Studies from Aish Hatorah and BS Architecture from the University of Southern California. Within the MLIS field, his interests include book and library history during wartime and collection policies supporting social history study.
 

Steven Bingo   Project Archivist, Washington State University

Steven Bingo is a project archivist at Washington State University (WSU). At Steven splits his time between processing and digitizing manuscript collections and working on The Sustainable Heritage Network, a project to support the preservation of Indigenous cultural heritage through education and resource sharing.

Marty Blackson   Faculty Lecturer in Archives and Special Collections, James E. Brooks Library, Central Washington University

Marty Blackson is a Faculty Lecturer in Archives and Special Collections at James E. Brooks Library of Central Washington University. He attended the Western Archives Institute in the summer of 2015 and has a BA in History from the University of Kentucky and an MS in Education from University of New Mexico.  His research interests include regional history and the history of education.

Bradley Boovy   Assistant Professor in World Languages and Culture & Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Oregon State University, and Co-founder of the OSU Queer Archives

Bradley Boovy, Oregon State University (OSU) Assistant Professor in World Languages and Culture & Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, is the co-founder of the OSU Queer Archives. His research bridges cultural history, history of sexuality, queer studies and gender studies, and is informed by cultural studies and queer feminist perspectives.
 

Dorian Bowen   Media Archivist, Living Computer Museum

Dorian Bowen has a background in media production, film history and archiving. She has worked most notably with collections from the Media Archives & Peabody Awards (Athens, Georgia) and National Baseball Hall of Fame (Cooperstown, New York). She is currently the Media Archivist at the Living Computer Museum (Seattle, Washington).

 

Nicolette Bromberg   Visual Materials Curator, University of Washington Libraries Special Collections

Nicolette Bromberg is currently the Visual Materials Curator for the University of Washington Libraries Special Collections. Previously she was the Visual Materials Curator at the Wisconsin Historical Society and before that she was the Photo-Archivist for the University of Kansas Library, Kansas Collection. She has taught courses on management of photograph and film collections, visual literacy, and on Understanding Photographs as Historic Documents. She has written numerous successful private, local, state and federal grants.
 

Marjorie Bryer   Project Archivist, the Bancroft Library

Marjorie Bryer is project archivist at The Bancroft Library at UC, Berkeley. She has worked for or volunteered at the GLBT Historical Society since 1999, including stints as managing archivist and board co-chair. Marjorie has a Ph.D. in U.S. History and is committed to preserving histories that have been marginalized.
 

Libby Burke   Archivist, Bonneville Power Administration Library

Libby Burke (MLIS, CA) oversees the Bonneville Power Administration Library’s archival documents and films. At Lyman Museum in Hilo, Hawaii she processed the Hawaii Macadamia Nut Industry Collection and the papers of doctors Charles and Frances Wetmore.  Previous: UW Special Collections film archives, menus; NARA marine blueprints.  Library and archives training: UW and WWU.
 

Logan Camporeale   Volunteer Programs Coordinator, Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture

Logan Camporeale is the Volunteer Programs Coordinator at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture. He is currently working on an M.A. in Public History from Eastern Washington University. This has given him the opportunity to work in the Washington State Archives Eastern Region Branch and Digital Archives.
 

Dr. Larry Cebula   Assistant Digital Archivist, Washington State Archives and Professor of History and Director of the Public History Program, Eastern Washington University

Dr. Larry Cebula holds a joint appointment as the Assistant Digital Archivist for the Washington State Archives and a Professor of History at Eastern Washington University, where he directs the Public History Program. His long-running blog, Northwest History, explores the intersections of digital, public, and Northwest History. In 2013 he and his students launched Spokane Historical, a smartphone app and website which has since grown to nearly 400 stories.
 

Alanna Colwell   Archival Intern, State of Oregon

Alanna J. Colwell earned her MLS and Archival Certification in December of 2015 from Emporia State University. Since graduation she has been balancing her time between an archival internship with the State of Oregon, implementing a technology plan at a small library, and several projects with local archival collections.
 

Samantha Cross   Assistant Archivist, CallisonRTKL, Inc.

Sam graduated from Western Washington University in 2011 with a Master's in History/Archives and Records Management. Currently she works for Callison RTKL, Inc. as the design firm's Assistant Archivist in Seattle. In her spare time, Sam operates her website, The Maniacal Geek, where she writes about all things pop culture.
 

Seth Dalby   Director of Archives & Records Management, Archdiocese of Seattle

Seth Dalby is the director of Archives & Records Management at the Archdiocese of Seattle, where he has worked for the past nine years. Prior to that he was archivist at Taos Historical Museums, New Mexico and project archivist at the City of Vancouver Archives (B.C.). He received a Master of Archival Studies from the University of British Columbia in 2005.

Emily Hughes Dominick  Technical Services Archivist, University of Washington Libraries Special Collections 

Currently Technical Services Archivist at University of Washington Libraries Special Collections; previously Associate Archivist at Providence Archives, Seattle. Emily has spent time in a variety of archival settings including a religious community archives, a small liberal arts college, a National Archives branch, a corporate archives, and a county historical museum. Each experience has added to her overall appreciation for variety in both collection materials and archives methodology.

Dave Ellenwood is the Research & Instruction / Social Sciences Librarian at the University of Washington Bothell & Cascadia College. He has graduate degrees in Library & Information Science & African Studies. Dave is a co-founder of the UW Bothell Social Justice & Diversity Digital Archive.
 

Dr. Laura Ferguson   Curator of Western History at the High Desert Museum

Laura Ferguson is the Curator of Western History at the High Desert Museum, in Bend, Oregon. Prior to this, she received a Ph.D. in History from the University of Michigan and taught at the college level for three years.
 

Natalia Fernández   Curator & archivist of the Oregon Multicultural Archives (OMA), Oregon State University. Co-founded the OSU Queer Archives.

Natalia Fernández is curator and archivist of the Oregon Multicultural Archives (OMA) at Oregon State University. The OMA assists in preserving the histories and sharing the stories that document Oregon's communities of color. In 2014 Fernández co-founded the OSU Queer Archives, an initiative to document the university's LGBTQ+ histories.

Morgan Ford  Student and Peer Research Specialist, University of Puget Sound 

Morgan Ford is a junior at the University of Puget Sound, pursuing an undergraduate degree in biology. She has worked in the archives there for almost three years, becoming the Peer Research Specialist in 2015. She started the Archives’ Tumblr blog in 2013 and is in charge of social media accounts, finding sources for research requests, and assisting with visiting classes. When she isn’t buried under lab reports or letters from 1973, she enjoys spending time with a crochet hook or a new recipe.
 

Anne Frantilla   Deputy City Archivist for the Seattle Municipal Archives

Deputy City Archivist for the Seattle Municipal Archives, Anne Frantilla has responsibility for reference work and for cataloging and processing maps, audio visual and moving images. She earned her MLIS at the University of Michigan and previously worked at Burroughs/Unisys Corporation and the University of Michigan Bentley Historical Library.
 

Megan Garbett-Styger   South Whatcom Library, Bellingham

Megan Garbett-Styger works at the South Whatcom Library in Bellingham, Washington. Megan holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Pacific Lutheran University and a M.A. in Archives and Records Management from Western Washington University.
 

Amy Gipson   Archive Program Manager, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Amy Gipson is Archive Program Manager at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. As a key liaison to the Gates Archive, she plays a central role in preserving the history of the foundation. She holds a Master of Library & Information Science degree from the University of Washington.
 

Mary Hansen   Archivist, City of Portland Archives & Records Center

Mary Hansen is an archivist at the City of Portland Archives & Records Center and focuses her time on providing reference to city employees, students and members of the public. She also leads outreach efforts and manages social media for PARC.
 

Anna Harbine   Archivist, Joel E. Ferris Research Archives of the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture

Anna Harbine is an archivist with the Joel E. Ferris Research Archives of the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture. Originally contracted to digitize the Charles Libby Collection, Harbine has continued her work, working with museum volunteers and interns to digitize several other photograph collections, featured on the museum’s website.

Janet Hauck  Librarian/Coordinator of Archives, Whitworth University 

Janet Hauck has been the Librarian/Coordinator of Archives at Whitworth University since 1999, and is a past president of NWA. She holds an MLIS from the University of Washington, and is a Certified Archivist. Janet’s publications include “Researchers at Work: Assessing Needs for Content and Presentation of Archival Materials.” She has recently received grants from ALA and the Wabash Center. Janet currently curates the exhibit, “Happy Birthday, George!: 200 Years Old and Counting.”
 

Andrew Hinton   Special Projects Archivist, the Vietnam Center at Texas Tech University

As Special Projects Archivist at Texas Tech University’s Vietnam Center, Mr. Hinton is the lead archivist of the Center’s new project to preserve the records of veterans who served after 1975. He works closely with the veteran community to encourage veterans to think about the importance of preserving their history.
 

Libby Hopfauf   Seattle Municipal Archives and Moving Image Preservation of Puget Sound

Libby Hopfauf graduated from the University of Washington in March 2015 with her Masters in Library and Information Science. She is currently working for Seattle Municipal Archives and Moving Image Preservation of Puget Sound as an audio/visual project archivist.
 

Sylvie Dakota Huhn Student Assistant at the Oregon Health & Science University Historical Collections & Archives

Sylvie holds a B.A. in Fine Art from Humboldt State University and is currently completing her MLIS with a concentration in archives through Emporia State University’s distance-learning program. In addition to her work at HC&A, she is also a student worker at the UO Portland Library and Learning Commons, and an archives assistant at the City of Portland Archives and Records Center. She paints in her spare time and enjoys long walks while listening to music.

Anne Jenner   Pacific Northwest Curator, Special Collections University of Washington Libraries

Anne Jenner is Pacific Northwest Curator in Special Collections at the University of Washington Libraries in Seattle, a major resource for library and archival materials with a particular focus on Pacific Northwest people, history and culture.  Prior to this position, Anne was the director of Archives and Special Collections at North Park University in Chicago where she managed the University collection, along with the Covenant Archives and Historical Library and the Swedish-American Archives of Greater Chicago.  She received an M.A. from the University of Washington and M.L.I.S. from the University of Illinois (UIUC).  Follow Anne on Twitter @PNWcurator.
 

Beth Joffrion   Director of Heritage Resources and Associate Professor at Western Washington University

Elizabeth Joffrion is the Director of Heritage Resources and Associate Professor at Western Washington University where she leads the Libraries’ Special Collections, University Archives, and Record Center, and the Center for Pacific Northwest Studies. Prior to this position, she was a senior program officer at the National Endowment for the Humanities, Division of Preservation and Access, where she coordinated the Preservation Assistance Grants Program. Before joining NEH in 2006, she was the head archivist at the Center for Pacific Northwest Studies (WWU) and affiliated faculty in its graduate program in archives and records management. She has held professional positions at the Smithsonian Institution’s Archives of American Art and the National Portrait Gallery, North Carolina State Archives, and the Historic New Orleans Collection, and has also taught courses on archives and special collections at Catholic University. Joffrion has authored articles in American Archivist and the Pacific Northwest Quarterly. She is currently co-authoring “Advancing Preservation” which will be published in the Society of American Archivists’ Archival Fundamentals III series. She received an MA in history from the University of New Orleans and an MLIS from the University of Maryland.
 

Brian K. Johnson   Archivist, City of Portland Archives & Records Center

Brian K. Johnson is an archivist with the City of Portland. Brian has degrees in History and Library Science and has been providing access to local history for over twenty years.

 

Max Johnson   University Archivist / Assistant Professor, Oregon Health & Science University


Max is the University Archivist for OHSU where he manages the daily operations of the archival program, supervises students, and leads projects in the archives.  Max’s professional focus is in digital archives, electronic records, and ensuring broad access.  Max is a huge fan of black/doom/death metal and R&B.
 

Dulce Kersting   Executive Director, Latah County Historical Society

Dulce Kersting is the Executive Director of the Latah County Historical Society (Moscow, Idaho) which operates a research archives and historic house museum. The archives are utilized by students, historians, genealogists, and the general public. She has a M.A. in Public History from Washington State University.

Linda Long is manuscripts librarian at Special Collections and University Archives, UO Libraries. She has worked at Consumers Union, Inc. in New York, and Stanford University. Linda holds a B.A. in History, Seattle University; an M.A. in History and Archives Administration, Case Western University; and an M.L.S., BYU. 
 

Alex Lorch   Director, Access to Historical Records National Historical Publications and Records Commission

Alex Lorch is the Director of the Access to Historical Records program at NHPRC, which provides grants on behalf of the National Archives. Previously he served on faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University as Head of Special Collections and Archives and as the Community Outreach Archivist. He has also worked as a processing archivist at the Library of Virginia and at Southern Methodist University.

 

Jeff Malcomson   Photograph Archivist, Montana Historical Society

Jeff Malcomson has been a public historian for over 19 years in Colorado, Arizona, and Montana, mostly working as an archivist specializing in government records. He is currently a photograph archivist at the Montana Historical Society, where he has worked for over ten years. Jeff earned a Master’s degree in history from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO.

Sarah Carnes McNealy is an MLIS student at the University of Washington iSchool. She has a background in healthcare planning and operations with a concentration in emergency preparedness in military and civilian healthcare organizations. She intends to become a health science librarian, specializing in data management, medical archives, and disaster information.

Mary McRobinson is the University Archivist at Willamette University. Before joining Willamette in 2006, she served as Head of the Descriptive Services Unit at the Russell Library for Political Research and Studies at the University of Georgia-Athens. Nathaniel Moore   Archivist, the Freedom Archives 

Nathaniel Moore is the archivist at the Freedom Archives. He holds degrees in African Studies, African-American Studies and Library & Information Science. He is active in educational programming inside of San Quentin State Prison working to illuminate the voices of imprisoned persons.

 

Courtney Mumma   Program Manager, Internet Archives

Courtney joined the Internet Archives in September of 2015 as Program Manager, with a focus on collaborative partnerships, grants management, community development, research initiatives, new services and sustainable innovation in web archives. Her career has been dedicated to building and fortifying the digital cultural heritage preservation sector. She has worked to advance the field through multiple collaborative efforts and has taught and lectured on topics related to digital preservation and curation.
 

Linnea Nelson   Conservator, Manuscripts Archives and Special Collections, Washington State University

Linnea Nelson is the conservator at WSU’s Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections. She cares for the books, papers, and artifacts held in MASC. Her primary objective is to stabilize the materials, preventing further damage and improving condition for future use. She has been the conservator at WSU for four years.

 

Lotus Norton-Wisla   Tribal Digital Archives Curriculum Coordinator, Washington State University Libraries - Center for Digital Scholarship and Curation

Lotus Norton-Wisla coordinates the Tribal Stewardship Cohort Program at Washington State University's Center for Digital Scholarship and Curation. She also works with the Mukurtu CMS platform and the Sustainable Heritage Network at WSU. Before relocating to Washington, Lotus worked with project planning, digitization, and cultural heritage in projects at the Wisconsin Historical Society and American Folklife Center.

Cris Paschild  University Archivist and Head of Special Collections, Associate Professor, Portland State University

 

Erin Passehl-Stoddart   Head of Special Collections and Archives, University of Idaho 

Erin Passehl-Stoddart is Head of Special Collections and Archives at the University of Idaho. She provides leadership and strategic planning that are tied to the university’s teaching, learning, and outreach initiatives. She has a MSI in Archives from the University of Michigan. Erin is the incoming president of Northwest Archivists.

 

Carlos Pelley, M.A   Technician in the Brooks Library Archives & Special Collections 

Carlos Pelley is the Technician in the Brooks library Archives & Special Collections.  He attended CWU for both his Undergraduate and Master’s degree in U.S. History. His interest in Archives and preservation first began during his undergraduate career when he first volunteered at the local history museum in Ellensburg, WA.

 

Jaimie Quaglino   Manager, Archive Services at Gates Archive

Jaimie Quaglino is Manager, Archive Services at Gates Archive. Gates Archive preserves records of the Gates family’s personal and philanthropic endeavors including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She received a Master of Science in Archives Management and a Master of Arts in History from Simmons College in 2003.

 

Stefanie Ramsay   Resident, National Digital Stewardship Residency (NDSR)

Stefanie Ramsay is a recent graduate of the University of Washington’s iSchool and is currently a resident in the National Digital Stewardship Residency (NDSR) program in Boston, MA. She is carrying out her residency at the State Library of Massachusetts.

 

Crystal M. Rodgers   MLIS Student, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee 

Crystal Rodgers is in her last semester of her MLIS at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, slated to graduate this May 2016. She also works part-time as an archives assistant for the City of Portland Archives and Records Center and the Oregon Health & Science University Historical Collections & Archives.

 

Melissa Salrin   Special Collections Librarian at the Whitman College and Northwest Archives

Melissa Salrin is Archivist and Special Collections Librarian at the Whitman College and Northwest Archives in Walla Walla, Washington. She is also an adjunct lecturer for GSLIS at the University of Illinois. Salrin earned her M.A. in history and her M.L.I.S. with a focus in special collections from the University of Illinois. She is especially interested in examining the archives as a political space.

 

Luke Scott   Applications Developer, on assignment to Gates Archive 

Luke Scott is a software engineer from Seattle, with 15 years of industry experience. He has worked as a consultant and developer in Seattle and the Bay Area, and recently completed a Master’s program in Computer Science at the University of Luxembourg with a focus on Intelligent Systems and Green IT. He now works as an application developer for Gates Archive.

 

Julie Shayne   Senior Lecturer, University of Washington Bothell

Julie Shayne is a Senior Lecturer at University of Washington Bothell. She is author/editor of Taking Risks: Feminist Activism and Research in the Americas (2015), They Used to Call Us Witches: Chilean Exiles, Culture, and Feminism (2009), and The Revolution Question: Feminisms in El Salvador, Chile, and Cuba (2004).

 

Rick Stoddart   Head of User & Research Services, University of Idaho

Rick Stoddart is Head of User & Research Services at the University of Idaho. Rick provides leadership on how the library meets the university’s learning mission through its instruction, reference, and public service programs.  His research focuses on how library services, collections, and outreach can enhance learning and community interaction.

 

Julia Stringfellow   University Archivist and Library Faculty Chair, Central Washington University

Julia Stringfellow is the University Archivist and Library Faculty Chair at Central Washington University. Before coming to CWU in July 2015, she was at Boise State University for 5 years. Stringfellow earned an M.L.I.S. and an M.A. in History from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2002.

 

Emily Thompson   MLIS Student, University of Washington 

Emily Thompson has an MA in Hispanic Studies from the University of Washington and is in her second year of the MLIS program, also at the UW. Her academic interests include public scholarship and archives. Her capstone project will develop a user portal for the Sephardic Studies Digital Library and Museum.

 

Rachel Thompson   Records Management Specialist, Western Washington University

Rachel Thompson is the Records Management Specialist for Western Washington University’s Archives and Records Management unit. She graduated from Western’s archives and records management degree program in 2011

 

June Timmons   Chief Applications Architect, Digital Archives, Washington State Archives

June Timmons is the Chief Applications Architect for Washington State Archives’ Digital Archives. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, June has spent the last 20 years in the software development profession working for various companies in Washington, including Microsoft.

 

Leslie Turner 

Leslie Turner has over 35 years of experience managing records in both paper and digital formats, working in corporate, private and public environments. She is a Certified Records Manager (CRM) and has an Electronic Records Management Practitioner (ERMp) certificate from AIIM.

 

James H. Warren   Interim Exhibitions and Collections Manager for the Maxey Museum at Whitman College

James Warren is Interim Exhibitions and Collections Manager for the Maxey Museum at Whitman College, where he also teaches in the freshman Encounters program. He trained as a historian at the University of Calgary and University of Illinois and is currently collaborating with faculty to reimagine the Maxey Museum's collections and spaces in terms of politics and pedagogy.

 

Camille Weber   Oregon Wine History Archive 

Camille Weber is a senior studying English minoring in Creative Writing and Political Science at Linfield College. She has worked in the Oregon Wine History Archive for the past three years and have been lucky enough to be a part of documenting the significant growth and evolution of the Oregon Wine Industry.

 

Miranda K. Webster   Student, Western Washington University  

Miranda Webster is a second-year graduate student in the archives and records management program at Western Washington University (WWU). She holds a BA from WWU in American Cultural Studies, and an MLIS from the University of Alabama. Her research interests include American history, geographic information systems (GIS), and accessibility of archives.

 

Geoff Wexler   Library Director, Oregon Historical Society

Geoff Wexler directs the Oregon Historical Society library in Portland. He has worked at the Wisconsin Historical Society, UC San Diego; the Bancroft Library, and as the archivist for theater artist Robert Wilson. He holds a bachelor’s degree from U.C. Berkeley, and master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

 

Robin Will   President and webmaster of the Gay & Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest (GLAPN)

Robin Will is president and webmaster of the Gay & Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest. Founded in 1994 in Portland, OR, GLAPN archives the histories of all sexual minorities in the PNW. Will holds a BA in Arts & Letters from PSU and is retired from a career in publishing.

Kim Christen Withey  Director, Digital Technology and Culture Program; Director of Digital Projects, Native American Programs; Co-Director, Center for Digital Scholarship and Curation; Mukurtu Project Director, Washington State University

 

Zachary Wnek   Museum Curator, Latah County Historical Society

Zachary Wnek is an emerging public historian who recently began his career with as Museum Curator for the Latah County Historical Society located in Moscow, Idaho. Zach’s passion is working to share historical collections online. As the Museum Curator Zach wears many hats including archivist, conservationist, registrar and volunteer coordinator. Zach earned a Master’s degree in public history from Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington while interning at the Washington State Archives Digital Archives and Eastern Regional Branch.

Michael Wynne  Digital Application Librarian, WSU

Joshua Zimmerman   Archivist/Records Manager, Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle

Joshua Zimmerman is the Archivist/Records Manager for the Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle. He is also a part time lecturer in the MARA program at San José State University’s iSchool. He has a MA in History/Archives and Records Management from Western Washington University.
