In this presentation, Project Manager Connor Ong will speak on the progress the The Historic Media Collection (HMC) at the Seattle Art Museum has made this last year of its development before it is made accessible to the public, and how the museum envisions its research potential for the future.

Connor Ong has been working at the Seattle Art Museum as the Project Manager of this Historic Media Collection since May of 2024, and in December, 2023 he completed his MLIS degree from Wayne State University alongside a certificate in Archival Administration. Connor is interested in working with archival collections that have regional and/or cultural focuses and prioritize access.

The Historic Media Collection (HMC) is a Special Collection within the Seattle Art Museum’s Research Libraries & Archives. The materials in the HMC reflect the activities of SAM—both internal events and public programming—that have occurred across museum departments since its founding in 1933 and that have been recorded onto film, video, or audio formats.
