Seattle Area Archivists has been contacted with a request for a conservator for a map in Pierce County. Please email us for the person's contact information.

Call for Archival Assistance for PBS Show
Erin Ross, who works for the PBS documentary series hosted by Ann Curry, called We'll Meet Again – http://www.pbs.org/meet-again/ has reached out to Seattle Area Archivists for an archivist in Seattle to help with their research. 

The series explores significant historic events that have shaped America and its citizens; told through the eyes of people who experienced them directly. Each episode introduces us to two individuals whose lives were impacted by history and we follow them on a journey as they look for a long-lost friend, family member or significant stranger.

Our first season was shown on PBS in January/February this year, and can still be viewed on the link above, or on the channel's Facebook page. They focused of watershed events such as WWII, 9/11, and the Civil Rights Movement. As part of their second season, they are looking for an archivist in Seattle who would be able to help them on our search, by accessing records and helping to find contact details.

Labor Archives of Washington Regional Records Survey

The Labor Archives of Washington at the University of Washington Libraries Special Collections invites all cultural heritage institutions in the Pacific Northwest with records related to labor history and interrelated civil rights and social justice organizations/activism to participate in the Pacific Northwest Historical Labor Records Survey! This information will give the LAW a broader knowledge about where records documenting labor history in the region currently reside, enabling us to compile a regional directory of labor historical records as well as integrate this information into the Society of American Archivists, Labor Archives Section’s Labor Archives of the United States and Canada: A Directory. This survey is being administered in conjunction with a survey distributed to labor organizations in the state of Washington to gather information on the state of labor historical records within union organizational offices.

Washington State Archives Records Management Training

Washington State Archives provides guidance and support to state and local government agencies in public records management by offering education and training opportunities. A message from the NWA NACR: 

The Native American Collections Roundtable is planning to hold a silent auction to raise funds for the NACR scholarship, a mixer/membership drive planned for 2019, and to cover up to $100 in fundraising for a salmon bake at this year’s NWA. The auction winners will be announced at the NACR meeting on the evening of Thursday, April 26, 2018.
