Planning has begun for the 2027 NWA Annual Meeting in Helena, Montana. If you are interested in helping us plan the conference (and celebrate our 50th anniversary), please fill out the Conference Volunteer Form by July 24th 2026. 

It was wonderful seeing everyone who attended our NWA Annual Meeting last month! We hope to provide the same opportunity to engage, connect, and learn at next year’s conference in Helena, Montana. The 2027 conference in Helena will also mark NWA’s 50th Anniversary as an organization! We hope that you will be able to join us to celebrate this milestone. 

To make this conference a success we are seeking volunteers to serve on the Program Committee and Local Arrangements Committee (see details below). Service on these committees will involve 1-2 meetings per month and some assigned tasks outside of committee meeting times. Service is open to all NWA members, including students and new professionals. 

The Program Committee is responsible for planning conference content, including voting on a conference theme, creating a call for proposals, selecting meeting sessions and workshops, and organizing a conference program (with support from local arrangements). As it is our 50th year, we encourage both long-time and new NWA members to help create a program that will reflect on NWA’s past and future as an organization and provide informative sessions on the diverse aspects of working in the archives. 

The Local Arrangements Committee is responsible for coordinating conference logistics with support from the board including booking pre-conference activities such as tours, coordinating with the conference venue, assisting with staffing conference registration, and supporting the overall success of the conference. Living or working in the Helena area is a plus but interested members in Montana are welcome to volunteer. 

Volunteers are needed from all regions of NWA and from all types of institutions. No prior experience with conference planning is required. Serving on the committee is a great way to connect with other NWA members and contribute to the field!
