Museum of the Yellowstone

The Museum of the Yellowstone is seeking a summer intern to assist us with archival organizational work.
Internship duties:
- · Organizing materials in the archives’ new location.
- · Updating inventory of current collection and archives.
- · Updating locations and records in the collections database.
- · Photographing items and uploading photos to database.
- · Assisting with object handling, packing, and condition reporting.
- · Assisting with the development of best practices for acquisitions, donor paperwork, and researcher access.
Competencies, skills, abilities
- · Knowledge of museum collections and collections best practices.
- · Experience handling museum objects, collections, and archives.
- · Experience with or willingness to learn to use museum collections database, including Past Perfect.
- · Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- · Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing.
- · Experience with tasks requiring close attention to detail.
- · Ability to move boxes from shelving to work areas.
Preferred education: Graduate or advanced undergraduate student seeking a degree in Archival Studies, Museum Studies, Library Studies or History.
Work schedule: Twenty-four to thirty hours a week during the time that the office is open: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. A schedule can be arranged for three, four, or five days.
Work dates: Ideally, we would like help from May 26, 2026, through September 26, 2026. However, we understand that these dates might not fit with an academic calendar and are willing to work with scheduling.
Compensation:
- · Housing provided: Fully furnished and equipped trailer with kitchen, bedroom, and living area.
- · Hourly rate of $15.00
